Abnormalities (환상체, Hwansangche) are entities that manifested from the mind of humans, and as such reflect an aspect of desires or fears of people, and they featured predominantly in the prequel game Lobotomy Corporation.

Description

Once you have completed all the assignments on a floor, you will be required to battle an Abnormality on that floor. After the events of Lobotomy Corporation however, these Abnormalities have become significantly weakened, as stated by Angela, although they can still be a force to be reckoned with, and several Abnormalities make a return from the previous game.

In order to battle an Abnormality, the Patron Librarian of the Floor, along with any Assistant Librarians (If there are any), will enter the book of the Abnormality and commence suppression of the Abnormality. Each Abnormality Battle is unique, with unique battle stages and abilities/gimmicks that usually need to be exploited in order to defeat the Abnormalites. Some Battles may contain more than one enemy, and in some Battles, you do not suppress the Abnormality itself, but instead its minions, in order to suppress it.

The Abnormality Battles on the Floors of General Works, History, Technological Sciences, Literature and Art mostly consist of Abnormalities of ZAYIN, TETH, HE, WAW and ALEPH-class. The Abnormality Battles on the Floors ofNatural Sciences, Language and Social Sciences mostly consist of Abnormalities of HE, WAW and ALEPH-class. The Abnormality Battles on the Floors of Philosophy and Religion mostly consist of Abnormalities of TETH and WAW-class.

Depending on the risk level of the abnormality a certain battle music will play, specifically a Library of Ruina remixed version of the Warnings that played in Lobotomy Corporation. Abnormalities of ZAYIN, TETH and HE-class will play the remixed 1st warning music, WAW-class play the remixed 2nd warning and ALEPH-class play the remixed 3rd warning.

Defeating an Abnormality will grant you new Abnormality Pages, which grant special effects or Pages to Librarians, and on the Floors of General Works, History, Technological Sciences, Literature and Art, it will increase the number of Max Librarians by 1, and on the Middle Floors, the second Abnormality Battle will increase the Max number by 1. On all floors, defeating an Abnormality will increase the Max Emotion Level by 1.
